Do you prefer talking to your loved ones via landline calls? Do you have
relatives – especially the elderly – who are still not comfortable using
smartphones for communication? Do you think landline calls are still better
when talking to business partners or for closing deals for your business?

If your answer is “Yes” to any of those questions, I bring great news!

You can now use Viber to call any landline, mobile, or business — free
of charge! Yes, Viber is now offering Filipino users free monthly
30-minute calls here and abroad!

Viber, one of the world’s leading apps for free and easy communication,
is giving its Filipino users more ways to stay connected with their
family, friends, or colleagues wherever they are in the world by offering
them free 30 minutes of calls to any mobile or landline number every
month.

Viber has been allowing its users to get in touch with loved ones,
coworkers, or businesses who don’t have a smartphone or access to the
internet by simply subscribing to an affordable calling plan. With this new
offer, Filipino users are now able to enjoy longer calls to any number in 60
countries around the world.

The Philippines is one of the first markets in the world to enjoy this
special offer, as it is the messaging app’s key growth area in the Asia
Pacific with a 50% increase in voice calls in 2021. Free Viber calls will
also be available in countries that have growing Filipino communities like
Hong Kong, Kuwait, and Singapore.

“Innovation and our users will always be at the center of everything we do
at Viber,” says David Tse, Rakuten Viber’s senior director for APAC.

He added, “Offering free calls to our Filipino users is our response to their
increasing demand for high quality, crystal clear calls even with
non-Viber users.

With this special offer, we hope we’ll be able to help them reach out to
family, friends, colleagues, or anyone in the world, even those who don’t
have Viber yet. It’s our own little way of bringing the convenience of our
technology to more people.”

When I received this story from our friends at Viber and their PR agency in the Philippines, Buensalido Public Relations, I immediately emailed them back with these questions:

1. Will this work for PLDT Landline calls?

2. Is this a limited-time offer or will it be a permanent service from Viber?

Here’s what they told me:

“Hi, Mark!

Yes, it works for PLDT landline calls.

Free Calls is a new service piloted and exclusive in the Philippines. It is not a limited offer and we are currently assessing on expanding this special service to other countries. We are glad to see remarkable usage in the country and looking forward to sharing more details soon.

Thank you!”

Sounds great, right?

Thanks, Viber, for being mindful of your users in the Philippines! This free service is definitely something that many Filipinos will greatly appreciate.
