Netizens and even prominent celebrity supporters of the President were surprised with the recent announcement of Martin Nievera that he was indeed one of them, an avid supporter of Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

During the highly anticipated and well attended event at the Quirino Grandstand, Martin Nievera expressed his gratitude and support to the outgoing President and former Davao City Mayor.

The Concert King’s status as an avid fan of Duterte and a certified DDS was not evident during the President’s rallies and during the campaign period in 2016, even some of the prominent DDS were caught off guard upon learning Nievera’s political affiliation.

There were rumours circulating online that the performers were being paid some huge sums of money just to perform during the said free thanksgiving concert for PRRD.

Performers and artists who were invited during the “Salamat PRRD” Thanksgiving concert denied all allegations of being paid as they revealed that they were doing this free conert just to express their support and gratitude towards the President as well as all his supporters.

Aside from Martin Nievera, other notable guests includes Andrew E., the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, Dulce, Chad Borja, Freddie Aguilar, Florante, Ice Seguerra, Isay Alvarez and Jimmy Bondoc.

The pre-program started at around 4PM with some performers entertaining the crowd while waiting for the President and other guests to arrive. Some of the performers includes Shamrock, Franchise, and Repakol.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte attended the said event as he was accompanied by his wife Honey Avancena and Sen. Bong Go. He was in good spirit the entire time and even joined the performer when his favorite songs were played.

The outgoing President just leave a short message that says “Maiksi lang po. Sa sambayanang Filipino: Maraming, maraming salamat sa inyo,” considered as his shortest address throughout his six-year term as President.
