From 220 active cases as of July 16, Davao City logged 272 fresh cases as of 8 a.m. on July 24 based on the Vaccination Cluster’s report.
Of the 272, at least 131 are asymptomatic cases, and 127 are mild. About 14 percent of the active cases are moderate.
Of the active cases, at least 129 were on approved home isolation; 68 were admitted to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC); 25 are awaiting endorsement to facility assignment; 17 were admitted to private hospitals; 10 were isolated at temporary treatment and monitoring facilities (TTMFs); eight are for triaging; six are isolated at TTMFs outside the city; and another is under the Davao Doctors Hospital home care program.
Dr. Michelle Schlosser, the spokesperson of the Davao City Covid-19 Task Force, said: “We are strongly encouraging the people to be very vigilant.”
“Always follow the minimum public health standards. Effective gyud ang pag wear sa face mask to prevent the transmission of the disease. Effective pud nga ma-prevent ang kamatayon tungod sa Covid-19 through vaccination (Wearing face masks is effective in preventing the transmission of the disease. Vaccination is also effective in preventing deaths due to Covid-19),” she said.
As the city’s cases are increasing, Schlosser reminded the public to avail of the free swab testing and free teleconsultation or telemedicine the instant they manifest influenza-like symptoms, such as cough, colds, or fever.
As of July 23, Buhangin District had the most number of active cases with 84, followed by Talomo District (83), Poblacion District (50), Agdao District (16), Bunawan District (14), Tugbok District (11), Toril District (nine), Calinan District (two), Paquibato District (two), and Baguio District (one).
Only Marilog District has zero positive cases.
Barangays 13-B and 3-A were also classified as high-risk barangays, currently with the most number of cases.
Meanwhile, Davao City reported a total of 792 variants of concern from January to July 23, 2022 – Omicron (B.1.1.529) with 314, Delta (B.1.617) with 272; Beta (B.1.351) with 163, and Alpha (B.1.1.7) with 43.
Schlosser said the cooperation of Dabawenyos, through adhering to the mandatory face mask wearing and getting the two-dose Anti-Covid-19 primary series and booster shots, will be a significant help in the city’s fight against Covid-19.
She also urged them to avail of their primary, missed, and booster doses during the “Bakuna Para sa Katawhan Karong Kadayawan,” which opened Monday, July 24, at the Davao People’s Park.
The special five-day vaccination at the park is open to five years old and above from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Saturday, July 30. (CIO)
